Beacon at Tombstone Rock

What if there were a civilization that had mastered the art of ecology and mixed technology and biology to create/grow the equipment they needed for missions to space and other planets? A genetic chameleon able to emulate its surroundings; a simple weather station here to gently collect data .

My design was inspired by several things from my trip out to visit the Revelstoke Mountain resort site . One is speaking to the plan of the ROAM group to create an Easter egg hunt for the guests to discover art while they ski. Additionally how to hide in plain sight and not distract from the natural beauty.

Beacon’s location is open, on a cat track with alpine bowls coming in from most directions. However the surroundings are really busy with the organic textures of trees and rocks and snow . For a moment you could trick the eye into thinking the Beacon belongs, until the viewers take a second, closer look.

The Weather Gnorm story was my second inspiration, remembering that weather on a ski hill is a big deal, and drives a lot of decisions. Gnorm showed me there are many types of ways to measure the weather. I asked myself, what if other species wanted to have that information, too?  How would that look?
